Maria is a specialized research professional responsible for the overall coordination, management, and implementation of behavioral research projects since 2005. Maria has expertise in the development and management of participant tracking databases, longitudinal data management, survey programming, and the training and organization of study teams. She is the Manager of the Health Behavior, Communication and Outreach Core directed by Donna Jeffe, PhD, which provides services in behavioral science, epidemiology, health education and communication, program evaluation, psychological quality-of-life assessments, and geocoding and spatial statistics to investigators engaged in Prevention and Control and Clinical/Translational research. Maria also serves as the Project Manager for the Data Analysis and Coordinating Center to coordinate all aspects of the Research Training and Career Development Annual Meeting as part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). The Annual Meeting serves as a venue for NHGRI-funded trainees to present their research and form collaborations with other trainees and established investigators from training programs across the US. Maria’s area of research focuses on the quality of life and adherence to follow-up care in newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
