Biography

Dr. Garbutt graduated from medical school in England and did post-graduate training in Canada. She has specialty training in Family Medicine and Community Health, and completed a General Medical Sciences Fellowship at Washington University in 1998. Dr. Garbutt is interested in research to improve the quality of care in the ambulatory setting. Particular interests include assessment of treatment strategies for upper respiratory illnesses in children and adults, and developing and evaluating methods to change physician behavior and improve the quality of care. Dr. Garbutt founded and directs a practice-based research network (PBRN) of community pediatricians in St. Louis. Current PBRN projects address firearm safety, HPV vaccine use, and management of childhood obesity.
